“I happen to like the valley. It’s the state’s engine-room, where much of the serious work gets done. “
James Parsons, UC Berkeley Geographer
We’re a pair of San Joaquin Valley natives who daydream about hot summers, tri-tip and fresh oranges. Two winters on the East Coast have put our humble homestead into perspective. (It’s great! What were we thinking!?)
To assuage our homesickness, we’re building a placeblog dedicated to things that interest or excite us about the central San Joaquin Valley. It’s an experiment for things we find fun to learn about and experience: trends, folklife, subcultures, backcountry hiking trails, oral history, Valley cuisine, community, local tourism…
Grand plans include amassing a digital library with links of local interest, publishing original content, interviewing strangers and doing our part to encourage community. Most idealistically, we’ll share a sense of place.
Visit valleynotebook.pbwiki.com to see more of our content in its raw form. It’s quite bare at the moment, but maybe you can make some suggestions or ideas.
